Amazon GuardDuty Malware Protection for Amazon S3 is a fully managed service designed to scan newly uploaded objects in S3 buckets for malware.
Beginning February 1, 2025, the price for the data scanned dimension will be reduced by 85%. This price drop is made possible by recent enhancements to our scanning infrastructure and data processing efficiencies, reflecting our commitment to passing cost savings on to customers.
GuardDuty Malware Protection for S3 is billed based on two dimensions: the number of objects evaluated and the volume of data scanned.
The price reduction applies specifically to the data scanned dimension. For example, in the US East (N. Virginia) region, the cost will decrease from 0.60to
0.60 to 0.09 per GB. The pricing for objects evaluated remains unchanged. This reduction enables customers to build more secure and cost-efficient data pipelines on Amazon S3, particularly for applications handling untrusted uploads across the enterprise.
The price reduction will be automatically applied across all AWS Regions where GuardDuty Malware Protection for S3 is available, with no action required from customers.
